Starting Base Salary: $87,000- $125,000
At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare, well-being benefits, paid family leave as well as generous paid time off. Total Rewards also include banking perks, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K plan with company match and may include the opportunity to participate in our Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plan. Position Summary
This position is accountable for directing and administering Banking Center Managers and their teams to achieve branch and district profit, growth, and customer service objectives through the sale of retail and business deposits, consumer and small business loans and fee based services including but not limited to: treasury management, merchant services, wealth management and single family mortgage loans.
As a Best Banker at Midland States Bank, this position plays a critical role in developing and maintaining the staffs effectiveness to present the best solutions to customers, delivering an exceptional customer experience during every interaction. Expectations for this position require the ongoing focus of developing teams that build solid and long lasting relationships by engaging all customers in a positive manner, and providing an experience that includes undivided attention, straightforward and knowledgeable service while ensuring that the customers best interests are our number one priority.
Primary Accountabilities
- Works jointly with the Market President and Regional Market President to develop and deliver a profit plan for each branch, establishing performance goals for the retail staff.
- Assists the product development team by monitoring competitors product offerings to stimulate idea generation in the development, modification, and sales activities for new and existing products and services.
- Maintains a high level of communication within the district by spending at least 60% of time in the branches.
- Coaches and develops Banking Center Managers on all aspects of successful business development, relationship management and customer retention strategies. Continually assists in the training of all employees on improving product knowledge, sales ability, and service.
- Promotes a sales culture and ensures that the staff receives proper training to sell and cross-sell products and services that meet individual customer needs.
- Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback through weekly check-ins, huddle meetings, and coaching & observation sessions.
- Responsible for developing employees to their fullest potential and providing challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth. Develop the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.
- Reviews and evaluates branch activity reports, including staffing, loan and deposit growth, overdrafts, charge-offs, and audits to meet profit and performance objectives.
- Active in local community organizations and activities. Assists reporting branches with the planning, preparation and delivery of bank hosted community events.
- Assists Banking Center Managers in resolving personnel problems, and working with the assigned human resources personnel to ensure resolution within established procedures and guidelines.
- Ensures the bank policies and standard operating procedures are consistently and uniformly applied by all Banking Center Managers.
- The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
- May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of retail banking sales and customer service experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of multi-branch, retail sales management experience.
- Strong organizational time management and problem solving skills.
- Ability to grasp concepts and processes and to partner with and influence others.
- Able to handle most problems/exceptions in an independent manner.
- Strong understanding of customer, product and branch profitability.
- Customer focused individual with good interpersonal skills and communication skills.
- This position requires National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008.
Ability to:
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and transport coin and currency bags as required (bags may weigh between 25lbs and 50lbs).
