Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) was created with the purpose of providing integrated enterprise IT support to Federal customers both CONUS and OCONUS. CARS employs Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with decades of experience working in the Federal marketplace.

The Database Administrator (DBA) will manage aspects of Oracle and Postgres databases including installation, configuration, design and data migration within Aeronautical Production Systems. This DBA position is tailored towards a Database developer vs. a Database admin as there will be database functions requiring significant modernization as the system migrates to the cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting Oracle database migration from on premise to AWS Cloud leveraging RDS managed service.
  • Supporting the analysis and evaluation of system improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts.
    • Evaluation will include feasibility studies of Oracle vs Postgres database options across cloud system architectures.
    • Evaluation will include Subject Matter Expertise (SME) level input to lead Engineering studies as to pros and cons each of proposed solution.
  • Supporting the development of long term and short-term requirements for database administration and design.
  • Supporting the development of data migration strategy and its implementation.
  • Modifying functions with Oracle to produce additional data outputs.
  • Modernization of databases to utilize and implement Spatial functionality.
  • Documentation of database procedures and best practices.
  • Manage and maintain Oracle databases including migration of version updates.
  • Maintain and optimize spatial data in Oracle.
  • Potential to convert Oracle database to PostgreSQL.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience OR
  • Master's Degree in a related discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in front end and back-end test verification.
  • Experience maintaining operational Oracle databases for mission critical systems.
  • Experience scripting for views, functions, and queries.
  • Experience query tuning for database optimization.
  • Experience with cloud-first, AWS native architectures and RDS managed service in particular
  • Prior experience using Oracle SQL/PLSQL, and SQL in general.
  • Previous experience scripting with Bash/Linux shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with the pace and environment of a SAFe Agile and DevOps development environment.
  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting.
  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals.
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
  • Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Previous customer service experience strongly desired.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
