Job Description

Field Service Technician with strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills to join our team. The position involves service of existing equipment and commissioning of new foam molding machinery. Foam Equipment services the transport packaging, automotive, aerospace and construction industries.

A small St. Louis based business servicing the particle foam equipment business throughout North America. We are in our 35th year representing several leading machine makers in Germany. Our suppliers are small businesses as well, so a family atmosphere exists throughout. We take great pride that our equipment is top notch, as is our service.

As a Field Service Technician, you will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic features of foam molding equipment. The Field Service Technician is also responsible for new equipment commissioning and customer training at customers sites, with minimal supervision.

This position will consist of up to 40% time in the field servicing equipment. The balance of your time will be in an office environment, performing telephone support, corresponding with customers to diagnose problems, and offering solutions through the sales of service and replacement parts. You will also correspond with venders to acquire further diagnostic information, document warranty issues, order parts, etc.

Candidate requirements for this position include the ability to:

• Work independently showing strong self-management skills
• Build strong relationships with customers to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction
• Read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, operator's manuals, and parts manuals
• Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions
• Master the control functions of machines
• Complete work orders, service documents, and other correspondence
• Train appropriate personnel in the field on proper setup, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.

Additionally, the Field Service Technician will:

• Understand and utilize electrical and mechanical test equipment
• Have competency in use of Windows, Word, Excel, Acrobat, and an aptitude for learning specialized software programs.
• Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective parts components or systems according to scopes of work
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance
• Troubleshoot, identify root causes, and solve operational issues associated with machinery at customer locations.
• Have excellent troubleshooting ability with strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Submit reports on machine and system installations, warranty repairs, overall performance levels, problems, and product improvement or enhancement opportunities to personnel. Submit clear statements on machine performance, and clear punch lists of open issues.
• Travel moderately domestically, and occasionally internationally, as required.
• Treat each customer interaction as an opportunity to promote and sell After Market parts, retrofits, and services. Generate additional revenue through sales of After Market goods and services.
