Job description

Duties You will be responsible for planning, prioritizing and scheduling the work of the Branch. You will serve as a technical consultant to the USOC Program and other office components, as appropriate on matters pertaining to physical sciences and. or oceanographic or hydrographic instrumentation. You will collaborate with branch heads of other NP3 branches to negotiate, decide, and/or coordinate work-related changes. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing. Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS/GG-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector such as: Ability to apply principles, methods, tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating, and managing projects and resources, including technical performance. Understanding the need for developing networks and building alliances; collaborating across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals. Evaluate work performance and provides feed back to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and that they are treated in a fiar and equitable manner. Plan, distribute, coordinate, and monitor work assignments for others. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: Education Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Supervisory Physical Scientist, GG-1301-13: Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. or Combination of education and experience education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Supervisory Oceanographer, GG-1360-13: Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences. or Combination of education and experience course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics. Supervisory Computer Scientist, GG-1550-13: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
