QualiTech is growing, and we are seeking a Picker and Labeler to join our Food Solutions Production team for 3rd shift. Pickers and Labelers manage and prepare materials for the use in the production process of manufacturing food products. Produce labels and label all packaging materials needed for production. Keep accurate inventories on ingredients and packaging. Pick the majority of ingredients needed for production. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pick the majority of ingredients needed for production according to the production schedule or as communicated by the production lead/supervisor.
  • Execute system transactions to assign ingredients picked to Production Orders enabling full traceability of raw materials and/or packaging as well as accurate inventory levels in the system.
  • Organize and continuously reconcile ingredients and packaging inventory for accurate inventories on computer system by product code.
  • Ensure all micro ingredients are well labeled and organized, and storage locations are accurate in the system making them easy to locate.
  • Interpret special instructions on pick lists and follow all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements while handling raw materials.
  • Complete packaging label duties according to the production schedule or as communicated by the production lead/supervisor.
  • Pull product orders from computer system. Load master label and packaging into labeling system. Check all information on the product order to make sure the right label is selected for print.
  • Select label from the system for print. Make sure all labels have accurate product code, lot number, expiration date and any other required information. Follow-up on missing or inaccurate label information were noted with Production, Quality Control, or R&D.
  • Follow labeling instructions to product codes where necessary. Instructions may include label locations, sticker applications, etc.
  • Label all packaging materials for production, which includes items such as boxes, bags, etc.
  • Maintain food safety culture in regard to food defense, quality and cGMPs for production and warehousing of products.
  • Assist Production Supervisor/Production Lead in job completions and production scheduling, as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma, general education degree, or equivalent knowledge and one or more years of related experience and/or training.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Inventory experience preferred.
Physical Demands: Employee is frequently required to reach with arms and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and frequently bend/stoop, squat, push/pull, twist trunk, lift and carry or move more than 50 lbs. Employee must repetitively grasp objects simply and firmly and use fine manipulation dexterity. Must use hands occasionally at knee, mid-thigh and shoulder level and frequently from waist to chest level. Must use both feet together, separately and repetitively to operate equipment. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Must be able to hear and follow instruction. Work Hazards: Stand and walk on dusty or wet floors. Operate forklift. Handle chemicals and materials with hazards associated with each of them. Use/operate tools and equipment to perform various production tasks. Work around moving machinery. Lift more than 50 lbs. Work Environment: Exposure to noise, heat, excessive changes in temperature and humidity, and airborne dust particles. Safety Equipment: Bump caps, hearing protection, hair net, beard net (if applicable), dust mask, vapor mask, respirator (if required based on ingredient being handled), uniforms, safety glasses, non-vented goggles (if required based on ingredient being handled), gloves and safety boots.
