UP Health System - Portage, located in Hancock, Michigan, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join our emergency medicine team. Position Highlights:

• Specialty Focus: Emergency Medicine
• Work Schedule: 216, 8-hour night shifts per year (Mon-Fri, 1pm to 9pm)
• Team Environment: Join a collegial and supportive team of 5 employed ED physicians
• Facility: ACS-verified Level III trauma center with an average annual census of around 10,000 patients
• Support Systems:
• ATLS certification
• ED physicians provide basic admin orders for hospitalists from 5pm to 7am
• Hospital EMR: Meditech Magic
• Digital radiology, point-of-care ultrasound, 24/7 on-site CT, MRI available Mon-Fri, 8am to 5pm
• Nurse triage process
• Telehealth psychiatrist assistance for psychiatric consultations
• 11 beds inclusive of 8 private rooms and 3 trauma bay beds
• Location: Situated on the main hospital campus in Hancock, MI

Hospital Features:

• 36-bed critical access hospital, including a 3-bed ICU and a 7-bed Labor and Delivery Unit
• Licensed for up to 10 swing beds
• Comprehensive on-site ancillary services: Lab, Physical, Speech & Occupational therapies, Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab
• Chest Pain Accreditation
• Inpatient and outpatient pharmacy
• 24/7 General Surgery, Orthopedics, and OB/GYN on-call
• Multi-agency behavioral health evaluations
• Telehealth support for neurology and psychiatry

Practice Description:

• Responsibilities:
• Provide care for patients of all ages presenting to the emergency department
• Conduct evaluations and treatments
• Coordinate care within the emergency department setting
• Collaborate with attending emergency department physicians and the interdisciplinary team
• Perform comprehensive evaluations, medical management, therapeutic interventions, patient education, and discharge summaries
• Report to and receive functional guidance from supervising and attending physicians and the medicine section chief of staff
