Job Title: Payroll Supervisor

Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Work Type: On-site

About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Supervisor to manage full-cycle payroll for our client's organization, covering over 2,000 employees across multiple contracts and unions. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, tax remittance, and compliance with various reporting requirements. The successful candidate will be the sole payroll professional in the company, working independently in their own office.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Payroll Processing

    • Manage biweekly payroll for 2,000+ employees.
    • Handle payroll taxes.
    • Validate payroll runs and audit employee payroll entries.
    • Manage the complexities of union contracts.
  2. Reporting & Compliance

    • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including W-2 processing.
    • Handle withholding taxes, sales tax reporting, and Department of Labor (DOL) reporting.
    • Ensure accurate reporting of employee counts on a monthly basis.
  3. Employee Lifecycle Management

    • Process payroll-related changes due to new hires, retirements, and resignations.
    • Conduct weekly processing and administrative tasks to ensure payroll is up-to-date.
    • Manage off-week tasks such as verifications of employment, employment requests, and garnishments.
  4. Employee Support

    • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll processing and related concerns.
    • Provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications:

Must Have:

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-cycle payroll experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience with union payroll, particularly managing multiple contracts.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail.
  • Customer service-oriented, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong follow-up skills.
