The Air Defense Ground Equipment (ADGE) Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of platform systems. This includes shelter systems, hardware integration, cable & interconnections, as well as facility development, and site integration. The department is comprised of individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.
The ADGE department is looking for a full-time Principal Engineer, located in Tewksbury, MA (On-site)
What You Will Do
Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements
Mechanical design, development, and documentation of cables, harnesses, and connectors to meet defense system requirements
Key contributor to small to mid-sized cross functional teams as a technical lead through all phases of development from proposal generation, program start up, requirements allocation, preliminary and detailed design development, and production
Hands-on lead and mentor to the engineering team as a technical expert within the integrated product team environment
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop robust design solutions and resolve technical challenges
Work with limited supervision and meet technical, schedule, and monetary commitments
Participate in design peer reviews and conduct trade studies to promote sound technical decisions
Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in an engaged team environment
Engage in personal technical growth and facilitate technical growth in peers and junior engineers. Take an active role in understanding what opportunities are needed to mature the organization on the technical front
Drawing generation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation
Working with manufacturing and suppliers to evaluate technical change requests
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires Bachelor's degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Experience designing cables, harnesses, and connectors for defense or commercial systems.
Experience with MIL-Spec Fiber Optic and Radio Frequency cables, assemblies, and/or connectors
Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools
The ability to obtain and maintain a US government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
Military cable and electromechanical system design/troubleshooting experience
ASME Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) experience
Strong CAD design experience (CREO, AutoCAD preferred)
Experience with PDM/Windchill or similar product data management tool
Existing secret clearance
