My client is a medical device company that specializes in designing, manufacturing, and distributing laboratory and diagnostic instruments. These instruments are typically used in various industries, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food and beverage, and environmental testing.

Description

In this role you will report to the Engineering Manager and be responsible for:

  • Prototype, test, and debug electro-mechanical systems for a range of instruments.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting and maintaining automated processes in production and maintenance.
  • Design electro-mechanical fixtures to enhance production and assembly-line efficiency.
  • Contribute to design failure investigations impacting risk assessments, hazard analyses, and FMEAs.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain to source new and alternative parts for End-of-Life components.
  • Process ECOs for electrical drawings, manuals, procedures, and item changes, updating documents as necessary.
  • Identify and specify equipment and subsystems needed to improve new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with Electrical and Software/Firmware teams.
  • Read, create, and modify schematics using Cadence OrCAD.
  • Manage the integration of software, firmware, electrical, and mechanical systems, understanding system components and their interactions.
  • Manage and maintain released software and firmware binaries, and oversee the bring-up process for devices/instruments.
  • Have some experience with programming (such as Visual Basic, VBA, C, Python)
  • Possess knowledge of regulatory compliance, EMI, and safety testing.

Profile

A successful candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of electrical, systems, or electronics manufacturing
  • Electro-mechanical know how
  • Motor, controller, and power supply knowledge
  • Testing and systems background preferred
  • PCB/ handheld device experience preferred
  • Product development lifecycle knowledge a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
