What youll do:
Responsibilities/Duties:
Coordinate physician office requested surgical procedures within the centers internal scheduling software.
Complete the registration process for surgical patients.
Maintain appointment computer scheduling in accordance with office scheduling policies.
Verify patient insurance eligibility.
Notify patients of copayment responsibilities / out of pocket expenses.
Perform various computer functions supporting specific responsibilities.
Manage any schedule edits or adjustments.
Provide additional support to other schedulers as assigned.
Attend required meetings/in-services and participate in committees.
Print relevant documents for chart preparation and/or clinical review for upcoming surgical procedures.
Maintain strictest confidentiality of medical/company information.
Be knowledgeable and follow all HIPAA Regulations.
As needed, will support other departments in a similar capacity to this role.
Any other duties as assigned.
Who you are:
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED
One-year medical office experience. Previous surgical scheduling experience preferred.
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software products, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and/or other search engines on the web.
Working knowledge of office equipment.
Familiarity with HIPAA, insurance regulations, policies, procedures, and other regulatory policies.
Medical office procedures, policies, practices and medical terminology.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate professionally (i.e., using expressive vocabulary that communicates a complete and detailed message, avoiding spelling errors, employing a respectful tone).
Ability to maintain enthusiasm while facing a high volume and a large variety of duties.
Ability and interest in learning procedures and software functionalities that could improve the effectiveness and efficiency of individual and department efforts.
Organized, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Extremely reliable and patient.
Interprets, adapts and applies guidelines and procedures appropriately.
Ability to develop and maintain effective and professional working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers and the public by demonstrating empathy and tact.
Must be a team player with a positive attitude and able to work effectively with a diverse population.
Maintains the strictest confidentiality on all patient issues.
