Job description

Duties Advises the Director of Emergency Services on all physical security matters with primary responsibility for implementing and developing policies and procedures related to the physical protection of Command and tenant activities facilities. Prepares, maintains and updates the arms, ammunition and explosives and physical security plans as they relate to the Command and various tenant missions. Coordinates with other installation elements and other agencies in the preparation of emergency plans. Inspects and monitors installed Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Automated Installation Entry (AIS) System. Coordinate system maintenance problems with maintenance repair personnel and follows up on corrected actions. Monitors the key control system, mobility badge system and security exchange badge system to ensure adequacy and regulatory compliance. Interprets regulations and directives pertaining to physical security requirements of various items in the research and development or final stage, and formulate plans for protection in accordance with applicable regulations. Prepares Serious Incident and Minor Incident Reports to higher headquarters to obtain full information and make final disposition of person(s) involved. Manages the Vehicle Registration, Crime Prevention and Antirobbery programs. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set immediate priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work. Evaluate work performance of subordinates, and give advice, counsel, or instruction to employees. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires you to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. This position requires you possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license. This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R. This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergencies, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment. Security Program Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
