Job Opportunity Description:
Client's Electronics & Industrial (E&I) Advanced Circuits and Packaging (ACP) is seeking a talented, eager to learn associate investigator for its advanced packaging lab and fab facility in Marlborough, Massachusetts
The Advanced Circuits and Packaging team develops new products that address technical challenges in the semiconductor packaging industry, supporting well-known, industry-leading fabricators producing world-class semiconductor devices
This role is suited for individuals with experience in lab operations and ideally in clean room environments performing formulation, fab coating, thermal analysis, lamination, and material testing
This position is on a team comprising scientists and engineers developing new material product formulations, new processing methods, and device makers fabricating new devices.
This candidate's primary responsibilities will be to support global project teams to deliver against project goals and timelines
Technical direction will come from experienced project leaders and technical leaders within ACP, who will assist as needed with prioritization, planning, and communication of project deliverables
This role will require hands-on execution of lab and clean room processing of material formulations, including coating, exposure, develop, cure, metrology and analysis of wafer-level and panel-level material processing
Work to formulate new materials for testing, thermal analysis and sampling will also be required
These activities will support process window development, performance optimization, integration troubleshooting, and formulation development across multiple steps of semiconductor fabrication
An ideal candidate will also have introductory organic synthesis skills to support material development as well as previous fab operation exposure.
This role will demand strong interpersonal relationships with other team members and requires good communication and analytical processing of experimental data
The successful candidate will drive evaluation and characterization aspects of critical projects and assist in data analysis and interpretation/presentation of key results, internally.

Responsibilities:
- Associate investigator focusing on panel and wafer-level processing techniques, comfortable with exploring advanced/non-standard methods for unique applications
- Adept at hands-on lab work, creative thinking, problem solving in a unique and fast-paced laboratory environment
- Assume responsibility for execution of project workflows, such as laminations, coatings, lithography and cure techniques, as well as thermal and mechanical analysis
- Support additional prototyping and optimization development initiatives relevant to strategic goals as they arrive
- Create, maintain, and leverage close relationships with internal analytical collaborators to drive characterization and performance data collection and analysis
- Clearly and concisely communicate research to team members of varying technical backgrounds
- Demonstrate ability to work well on cross-functional and global teams with personnel at multiple levels, including Asia-based customers and commercial points of contact
- Maintain appropriate focus on personal and process safety, product integrity, and environmental stewardship
Skills/Capabilities:
Required
- B.S
or Associate degree in a technical or scientific field with industrial lab experience with clean room + wafer level processing methods & tools. - 1-2 years hands-on industrial experience in semiconductor fab or similar environment
- Familiarity with material characterization, wafer-level metrology and/or thin film analysis
- Experience with thermal and mechanical analysis tools and techniques
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven team player
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- English fluency
- Previous industrial wet lab experience in formulation, film casting and lamination
- Previous hands-on fab experience, including wafer handling, coating, lithography and metrology
- Expertise with a diverse range of analytical equipment:
- Chemical, mechanical, thermal analysis
- Basic materials characterization
- Inspection equipment (confocal microscopes, scanning electron microscopes)
- Curiosity and excitement to learn beyond assignments, excellent problem-solving skills in a team environment
- Experience with applications testing for quality control and reliability testing for material process qualification and QC release
- Hands-on experience in and enthusiasm for wafer-level or panel-level material formulation for the most demanding customers in the world.

or associates degree in chemistry, physics, engineering or materials science - Previous cross-functional or global project experience in semiconductors is desirable
