2nd Shift 3:00 - 11:30 PM

Monday-Friday with potential OT as required.

Union/benefited Position

Salary: $24.15/hour (step 1)

Position Title

BUILDING CUSTODIAN (NIGHT)

Primary Purpose

Performs routine manual work in connection with the care and maintenance of school buildings and grounds; also performs other related work as required.

Reports directly to Head Custodian
• Empties trash and places in dumpsters replacing wastebasket liners as needed.
• Vacuums all rugs.
• Sweeps and washes classroom tile areas.
• Checks and refills all paper towel, soap and toilet paper dispensers in classrooms and bathrooms.
• Sweeps, mops and buffs hallways as needed.
• Secures buildings at end of the day.
• Cleans classrooms sinks as needed.
• Cleans classroom blackboards and chalk trays weekly.
• Clears snow and ice.
• Dusts surfaces around windows, furniture, moldings or other areas as
• Replaces light bulbs as necessary
• Sets up and takes down meeting rooms as required.
• Performs preventive maintenance functions to buildings, equipment and systems.
• Reports major repair or building operation system's problems to the Facilities Manager.
• Performs all work in accordance with safety standards.
• Maintains supplies and equipment as required.
• Performs other duties as requested by Head Custodian, Building Principal or Facilities Manager as required within the scope of the custodial function.

Qualifications
• Completion of high school education or equivalent education and/or experience.
• General knowledge of cleaning materials and methods. Ability to perform moderately heavy manual labor. Skill below mechanical level in performing preventive maintenance on plant and equipment.
• A physical examination by a licensed Medical Doctor is required as a condition of employment.
• Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds to a height of 60 inches above the floor.
