Creative Financial Staffing has been exclusively retained by a highly reputable Automotive Group to identify an Accounting Director. The CFO is looking to mentor and develop this individual to be a future CFO. They will offer relocation assistance for candidates outside of MA.

Highlights of the Accounting Director opportunity:

  • The Company: Highly reputable automotive group with over $1B in revenue with dealerships throughout the US.
  • The Growth: Fast-growing dealership group expanding both through acquisition and organic growth. In the past 2 years, their revenue has increased by 30%.
  • Opportunity: Reporting to the CFO, the Accounting Director will contribute to organizational procedures, support DMS conversions, oversee dealership transactions, lead major projects, manage multi-business accounting, assist in treasury, accounting, and tax functions, and handle legal documentation for new business formations.
  • The Exposure: The Director of Accounting will be expected to provide business and operational analysis, strategic insight, and tactical financial support to be an effective business partner and trusted adviser to the CFO, COO, and President.

The Accounting Director's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in the development and execution of standardized procedures and policies within the growing organization. Work closely with Group Controllers to ensure departments are well-guided and organized during the ERP transition.
  • Assist in the conversion process from CDK to Tekion, across all dealerships.
  • Oversee buy/sell transactions of dealerships, managing business operations, human resources, payroll, employment options, and legal documentation, with support from external counsel for real estate transactions.
  • Assist or lead significant projects, such as sale-leaseback transactions, ensuring all closing documentation is meticulously handled.
  • Manage the accounting functions for various businesses beyond the dealership network.
  • Assist in the oversight and management of treasury functions, accounting processes, and tax compliance.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of legal documents for new business formations and accounting procedures.

Required experience:

  • 10+ years of experience with 5+ years with a multi-location, multi-state auto dealership in a Group Controller or CFO capacity.
  • Oversight of at least 5 locations with a sales volume of 10K+/units annually.
  • Intercompany transaction experience
  • Adaptable to Technology/software.
  • Ability to travel for acquisitions or DMS installations (15%).

Highly Preferred experience:

  • Bachelors degree
  • M&A experience
  • CDK or Tekion experience
