Job description

Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We wantall ofour people to go beyond what is possible. We aren't constrained by typical end rails, and we aren't out to just "treat" people. We're all in this for something more. We're driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to contribute to the design, execution, and characterization of bioconjugates.

Additional primary responsibilities include:

  • Independently plan and execute bioconjugation experiments, such as the modification of proteins, antibodies, peptides, and lipids
  • Synthesize linkers for conjugation experiments as needed
  • Develop, optimize, and assess scalability of conjugation techniques to enable in vitro and in vivo evaluation
  • Apply and develop methods to characterize and analyze conjugates
  • Keep abreast of scientific advances and utilize new technologies to improve upon existing bioconjugation strategies
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, and maintain accurate and detailed lab notebooks
  • Present research to key stakeholders to team, department, and scientific leadership
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Delivery Sciences, Protein Engineering, and Disease Biology groups, to support company goals
  • Assist in chemistry lab operations, including the ordering of supplies and maintenance of equipment

About You:

Our ideal candidate will be an energetic and hands-on experimentalist, eager to work on new initiatives. If you have strong attention to detail, planning, and time-management skills, we encourage you to apply! Additional role requirements include:

  • Hands-on experience with modern synthetic chemistry and bioconjugation techniques with a strong understanding of chemical biology principles
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical challenges in the lab
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling productive work in a matrixed environment
  • Experience with antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and/or lipid nanoparticles is advantageous

Meet your future team

The Chemistry and Delivery Sciences team is a fun, energetic, and passionate group of individuals whose mission is to develop the chemical building blocks that enable curative therapies. You will report directly to the Associate Director, Medicinal Chemistry. The team focuses on various activities, including lipid discovery, bioconjugation, and organic synthesis supporting the research organization. Given the breadth of work on this team, the candidate will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of areas within the Chemistry and Delivery Sciences spaces that support Intellia's gene editing pipeline.

The team is currently working fully onsite to execute workflows in a wet-lab environment. We require the candidate to be currently local to Cambridge MA, or open to relocating. While much of the day-to-day operations require wet-lab work, our team is focused on building not just technical expertise but fostering an environment for growth of scientists interested in a career in biotech and chemistry. If you join our team, you can expect to join a hardworking and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and building a larger team that will make a difference in patient's lives.
