The Head of Platform Architecture for Foundational Technology Platforms (FTP) is an experienced leader who is capable of leading an architecture practice and team to develop a long-term architectural vision across Foundational Technology Platforms, which includes On-Prem and Cloud Infrastructure, Global Networking, Infrastructure Shared Services such as monitoring/telemetry, storage and backup, Citrix, and Big Data infrastructure. To this, the successful candidate will bring experience and knowledge with many of the technologies across multiple domains (i.e. infrastructure, devops, agile, observability, AI/ML, integration, data) to ensure strong technical foundation, resiliency, scalability, security, and compliance of platforms in context of a global biopharmaceutical company. Join Takeda as a Head of Platform Architecture, Foundational Tech Platforms where you will Direct platform architecture team by establishing priorities aligned to committed objectives, then executing and monitoring progress towards platform architecture outcomes. You will also provide specialized expertise in platform architecture activities related to platform family. As part of the, Data Digital & Technology business unit you will report to Head of Infrastructure & Cloud Technology Innovation & Engineering and work with key stakeholders.

How you will contribute:
  • Provide leadership to the platform architecture team(s).

  • Establish and maintain architecture governance structures and best practices for platforms.

  • Drive partnership with platform engineering and Enterprise architecture team(s) to drive consistent design of platform capabilities.

  • Act as a primary platform architecture expert and thought leader across platforms and lead technical design activities across team.

  • Lead the development of platform architecture roadmaps, principles, standards, and guardrails.

  • Establish, lead, and maintain alignment with Enterprise Architecture team to ensure platforms roadmaps, standards, and principles are properly reviewed, endorsed, documented, and communicated.

  • Influence platforms governance and lead engagement with Enterprise Architecture led Architecture Council and other working groups.

  • Translate business requirements into platform technical requirements that other technical team members can effectively engineer for capability delivery.

  • Govern platform capabilities introduction and standardization to achieve improved business outcomes while reducing or mitigating risks.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, and/or Management Information Systems from an accredited university or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of more experience with Agile methods / methodologies, and leading SCRUM / Lean / Kanban teams.

  • 10+ years or more of relevant professional experience as technology architect or engineer, with 7+ years in a role managing technology teams.

  • 7+ years of experience with public cloud solutions (AWS and Azure required).

  • 5+ years of experience partnering with business functions to provide advisory role at a mid-to-senior executive level.

  • Healthcare / life science / pharmaceutical industry experience required.

  • Referenceable leadership, management, or key influencer experiences required.

  • Ability to work in an agile and rapid changing environment with high quality deliverables.

  • Previous experience managing global architecture teams and budgets required.

  • Ability to think outside the box for innovative architecture capabilities.

  • Knowledge of information management practices, regulatory requirements and global data privacy laws related to the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks / methodologies such as TOGAF (preferred), Zachmann, and Cloud Well Architected Frameworks (AWS or Azure Well Architected Framework, Azure).

  • Demonstrated experience across technology architecture domains (i.e. DevSecOps, Cloud, Integration middleware, AI/ML, monitoring / telemetry / observability).

  • Experience with negotiation, facilitation, and consensus-building techniques.

Preferred:

  • Master's (M.S.) degree or MBA from top US or International business school preferred.

  • Ability to drive continuous improvement, and experience working with change management or internal communications team.

  • Experience working with virtual / Agile teams in different locations, aligning and adapting different work, culture, and communication styles.

  • Experience with designing and development of pharmaceutical life science products.

  • Experience managing insourced or outsourced delivery teams as a virtual lead.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$169,400.00 - $266,200.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
