Job Posting Description

New hires with less than 1 year of experience may be eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus.

The MFM Senior Sonographer is responsible for the following:
Performs routine and complex obstetrical ultrasound examinations as prescribed by a physician.
Reviews and evaluates requisitions for ultrasound imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
Works closely with the Radiologists.
Reviews ultrasound examinations before and after with the Radiologist, MFM, others as needed
Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develops plan for adjusting to patients' specific needs.
Follows QC/Data Integrity Workflow process.
Practices High Reliability Communication techniques.

Responds to the uniqueness and clinical condition of the patient.
Creates a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
Promotes a positive work environment in compliance with ETU.
Identifies and reports on equipment malfunctions.
Assists in patient scheduling and facilitates efficient workflow within ultrasound area (board runner).
Investigates and resolves technical and scheduling issues and performs designated quality assurance functions.
Performs additional tasks as delegated by manager or Assistant/Chief Technologist i.e., such as inventory review and ordering supplies, QA/QC projects, managing equipment repairs, participating in research projects, reviewing billing and coding, etc.
Fills in for manager or Assistant/Chief Technologist as necessary, by monitoring and maintaining daily operations of clinical area.
Acts as Board Runner Sonographer.
Acts as a champion for new equipment or processes.
Provides instruction on performing ultrasound procedures for trainees and fellows.
Serves as a resource and responds to requests for information or assistance.
Participates in precepting new staff as requested.
Trains fellows, residents, students and staff in imaging procedures and techniques.
Participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
Completes all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Complies with ETU.

Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file.
Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.
Takes an active role in research projects involving ultrasound.

The MFM Senior Sonographer must have the following:
Obstetrics and Gynecology (RDMS OB/GYN) certification
3 years of experience as a Sonographer
Associates Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
