We are seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) or Senior MSL to join our Breast Oncology team! This role serves as the local medical voice of AZ in the disease area of interest and builds a local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes in their territory. The MSL is an established field-based professional with extensive scientific, clinical, and therapeutic area expertise responsible for providing medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's oncology marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development.

Territory: New England excluding RI CT, MA, NH, VT, ME

What you'll do:

  • Act as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy to meet the AZ USMA priorities in the disease area, as well as the local specificities and patient needs.
  • Develop strong working relationships in different external business settings (e.g. academia, hospitals, managed markets, private practices).
  • Lead scientific exchanges with oncologists and key members of the MDT.
  • Lead peer-to-peer scientific/medical interactions.
  • Gather insights on the treatment landscape, evolving healthcare environment and practice, barriers to optimal treatment and patient care, or opportunities to improve outcomes of patients with cancer.
  • Discuss with KOLs data and educational gaps to ensure adequate use of our medicines and to inform our R&D strategy to address patient needs.
  • Stay current with scientific knowledge and attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations on trials from feasibility to execution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced scientific degree required (i.e. Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations, and in small group dialogues.
  • Ability to navigate within a matrixial environment.
  • 2+ years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences.
  • Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols.
  • Basic understanding of the healthcare system, clinical trial methodology, statistics, and regulatory environment.
  • Excellent project management ability.
  • Ability to travel (40-60% by car, train, and plane domestically).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline.
