Job description

The Controls Engineer will be a key individual in the automation development and practices in exciting time of a start up organization bringing a unique product to market.

Client Details

The start up manufacturer recently received their Series A funding to continue to make vast progressions on their product in an area and space that continues to expand and gain momentum.

Description

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Create and develop PLC programs for automation and control systems.
  • Set up and program SCADA systems for monitoring and advancing technology.
  • Design HMIs to support research and development and process improvement functions across the site.
  • Work closely with process development and design engineers to gather requirements and define system specifications.
  • Implement control strategies to enhance production processes and increase the efficiency of advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Collaborate with external equipment vendors to align control development strategies with AMB requirements.
  • Perform testing and validation of control systems to ensure they are reliable and functional.
  • Offer technical support and troubleshooting expertise for deployed equipment.
  • Take part in commissioning and startup activities for new internal and external projects.
  • Document control system designs, configurations, and procedures.
  • Support SQL database systems for the storage and retrieval of manufacturing and development data.
  • Use Python (or other relevant software) for scripting, data analysis, and automation tasks.

Profile

The successful Controls Engineer will have MOST of what follows:

  • At least 2 years of experience in industrial controls and automation.
  • Knowledge of industrial control networks and field devices (such as PLCs, HMIs, power supplies, drives, sensors, actuators, etc.).
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols like Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, etc.
  • Proficiency in SCADA software platforms, with a preference for Ignition.
  • Familiarity with HMI development and interface design.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and safety protocols in industrial automation.
  • Proven experience in solving real-world problems with technical solutions.
  • Experience in engaging with vendors and using remote technical support.
  • Experience in generating, modifying, and referencing electrical schematics for equipment.
  • Experience working with SQL databases for data storage and retrieval.
  • Proficiency in Python programming for scripting and automation tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering field.
