Description Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Work Location: St. Inigoes, MD Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O&M); weapons testing; facilities management; aerial, ground and seaborne targets O&M; technical, logistics and other engineering support; systems integration; electronics and communications maintenance services; and a growing cybersecurity business. SA-TECH currently supports the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWCAD) Naval Air Systems Command, and the NAWCAD Webster Outlying Field Divisions by providing rapid organic engineering, prototyping, reverse-engineering, environmental testing, antenna repairs and life-cycle extensions, and production capabilities. We are currently looking to hire a Cost Estimator at our St. Inigoes, MD facilities to prepare cost estimates for product manufacturing, construction projects, or engineering services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service. The following job functions are basic requirements (but other duties may be assigned as well): Lead tasks with little or no guidance.
Analyze requirements documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project and determine what factors of production will influence the cost and schedule of a product or project.
Prepare cost estimates for product manufacturing, construction projects, or engineering services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service using Government Furnished Information (GFI) such as engineering documentation and technical data packages.
Compile and record actual cost data for use in estimating analysis and quick reference for future estimates of similar scope.
Support market research with historical vs. actual cost data.
May specialize according to particular service performed or type of product manufactured.Work Conditions: Conditions will vary but most work will be conducted indoors. Position will include: 45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 10% lifting. Requirements Education/Experience/Skills: For Junior Level - Bachelor's degree or a qualifying substitution in an engineering, technical, or business discipline. Six (6) years of relevant experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree. An Associate's degree and four (4) years of relevant experience may also be substituted for a Bachelor's degree. For Journeyman Level - Bachelor's degree or a qualifying substitution in an engineering, technical, or business discipline. Nine (9) years of relevant experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree. An Associate's degree and four (4) years of relevant experience may also be substituted for a Bachelor's degree. SA-TECH will consider more senior individuals for this role as well.
In addition to the degree requirement, 0-3 years of relevant experience related to estimating fabrication projects within the DoD domain will be required for the Junior Level and 3+ (three or more) years of relevant experience related to estimating fabrication projects within the DoD domain is required.
Experience within a manufacturing and fabrication operation, with expert knowledge in fabrication processes to accurately assess material and labor requirements of projects.
Prior experience as Machine or Fabrication Shop Supervisor/Foreman providing project cost estimates and labor & material requirements data a plus.
Ability to archive and reference relevant historical data to expedite accurate cost estimates.
Current Maryland Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
U.S. Citizenship required and you must already have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
