Job description

Duties You will distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assure timely accomplishment of assigned workload. You will respond to and investigate complaints while enforcing state and federal laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), DoD and Navy regulations, and installation directives. You will conduct preliminary investigations of incidents ranging from minor offenses to felony and major crimes, and serve as an Incident Commander to lead operations for major incidents or situations. You will report performance, progress, training needs, and disciplinary actions of employees to the supervisor. You will provide on the job training to new police officers in compliance with existing procedures and policies. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition. Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326. You must successfully pass an initial, annual, or any required OPM, DoD, or DON mental and emotion stability screening, physical agility test, and physical fitness for duty test. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. Employee is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include additional required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to applicable grooming standards for the installation. You must successfully complete a required Police Training Academy or equivalent course (e.g. Navy Police Officer Academy). You must be able to read, write, and speak English. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing law enforcement (LE), physical security (PS), antiterrorism (AT), and force protection (FP) functions; 2) Identifying/deploying specialized or advanced techniques, equipment, knowledge, and/or training; 3) Conducting preliminary and/or ongoing investigations of incidents; and 4) Documenting law enforcement and security events and the issuance of citations. Incumbent must qualify for and maintain an emergency vehicle operator endorsement.
