Job description

Description Does working on the cutting edge of technology excite you, knowing that the path to success has yet to be written? Are you a committed problem solver with passion for radio frequency (RF) performance, structural/thermal analysis of radome? Do you enjoy developing and prototyping novel engineered materials, surfaces and structures for manipulating microwave electromagnetic fields? Do you have experience analyzing RF systems using electromagnetic simulation software to characterize novel radome structures in extreme environments? If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL. We are seeking a senior engineer to lead the radome design and analysis for subsonic, supersonic, and hypersonic applications. You will be joining a hardworking team of engineers with a broad range of experience, from both internally at APL and multiple external industry organizations! As a Senior Engineer, you will Lead studies and research activities to advance the state of the art in fields such as radome survivability and RF performance and integrated thermal-structural analysis
Provide technical contributions and leadership in designing and analyzing new radome structures to the development of strike weapon systems in the relevant areas such as analysis, modeling and simulation, hardware, integration, test and evaluation
Provide regular interface with Government sponsor, industry partners, and key Laboratory program and technical staff on activities related to radome design and analysis
Produce written documents and presentations of technical work
Lead and mentor engineer teams. Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you Possess a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant technical discipline
Have 3+ years of relevant experience in radome design, thermal, structure and/or RF analysis of radome structures and high temperature materials
Have experience in using structural/thermal/electromagnetic simulation software
Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship
You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you Have a MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant technical discipline
Have 5+ years of proven experience in design and analysis of radome structures
Have demonstrated technical leadership of small teams

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
