Job description

As a Power SME, the individual will be responsible for performing operations and maintenance for rack-mounted Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) supporting network infrastructure, as well as other power systems, to include, but not limited to DC Power Plants and Power Distribution Units within DoD IT Facilities and other areas across the NCR. Responsibilities Works with other Power SMEs to ensure the success of the power reconfiguration, deployment, and monitoring of all rack-mounted UPS Physically supports the installation, lifecycle refresh, and decommission of rack-mounted Uninterpretable Power Supply (UPS) units and Network Interface Cards (NIC)s as needed to support the project team. This includes after hours (10PM-6AM) and weekends Serve as technical/consultative resource of electrical infrastructure systems and equipment Hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment Manage vendor relationships for electrical equipment Perform unscheduled maintenance on UPS and batteries in response to break/fix incidents within the entire NCR region (100+ sites) Work with Network Operations teams during outages and planned authorized service interruptions (ASIs) to confirm availability and status of network equipment following maintenance. Perform Power Audits and inventories Document all required information for each site visit and break/fix issue within ServiceNow Coordinate UPS and battery acquisition, replacement, and removal/disposal with Power Team government leadership Work with WHS Leased Building services personnel and building's property management to arrange IFR services, IE HVAC PMs and repairs, Fire inspections and alarm testing, Electrical issues, etc Support Pentagon preventative power and HVAC maintenance events, which primarily occur after hours (10PM-6AM) and on weekends Perform any additional services needed to meet the requirements of the facility in support of maintenance functions Work with JSP members to coordinate custom and large installation projects Support special projects such as the Pentagon Data Center Optimization Initiative Coordinate directly with JSP's customers within the NCR to adjudicate configuration management changes within the Pentagon and Mark Center Infrastructure Facility Rooms (IFRs) Coordinate with multiple groups of IT service providers to implement infrastructure change requests Conducts space and power surveys within the IFRs to determine if capacity is available to support change requests Assists in responding and resolving of IT-related incidents and outages Provides written and verbal status reports on change requests to leadership on a weekly basis Performs other tasks as required by OSC and the Government contracting office Required Qualifications/Education and Experience: 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combinations of education and experience. Prior Power/UPS experienced is required Previous hands-on experience using MS Project and other scheduling tools Previous work experience within DISA or similar DoD environment Comprehensive knowledge of distribution systems, transmission systems, medium and high voltage substation electrical equipment, steady state and dynamics modeling of Power Pools, the Interconnection Request process, lightning protection, grounding grids Understanding of applicable industry standards and codes including Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and ANSI (American National Standards Institute) Must operate within division policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals Ability to read blueprints/CAD drawings Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business procedures, professional documents, technical procedures, and governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc Handle multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to confidently coordinate projects and respond to government taskings with minimal supervision Ability to anticipate problems & take decisive action Prior hands-on experience using SharePoint Ability to lift items weighing up to 75 pounds Must be able to operate government owned vehicles and have a safe driving record Must have and maintain a Secret personnel clearance and must be eligible for TS/SCI Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university with 5 years of directly related experience Experience working in a facilities mission critical environment Trade certification or state license in subject matter area (i.e., licensed electrician, Certified Emergency Power Systems Specialist for Facility Managers (CEPSS) Additional Information Must be able to be available to work evenings and weekends to support Authorized Service Interruption (ASIs) - at least 1 weekend/month Equal Employment Opportunity/M/F/disability/protected veteran status
