Job description

Precise Systems is seeking to hire a Formulation Scientist with advanced experiences in encapsulation, spray drying, micronization, coacervation and other particle engineering techniques. The candidate should have a well-demonstrated record in the production and characterization of microencapsulated molecules from small molecules to proteins. Experience with characterization of aerosolization properties of engineered particles is a plus. The candidate will be supporting efforts with heavy emphasis on atomization and emulsion-based processes. Therefore, applicants with a willingness and desire to establish their own workflows and provide meaningful creative and technical leadership with be highly favored. Duties: Develop workflows to encapsulate a variety of payloads with different capsule sizes, morphology, payloads, core material, shell material, processing aids, pre/postprocessing, and equipment. Characterize microencapsulated payload size, morphology, and hydrophobicity Keep detailed records of laboratory operations and compile data in regular technical reports. Required Education: Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or related field preferred but others will be considered depending on qualifications. Required Experience: Demonstrated hands-on experience in encapsulation techniques such as atomization, emulsion based, and coacervation Understanding of encapsulation development and the various materials and techniques is essential Understanding the economics of encapsulation and scale-up considerations Must be able to design, plan, and execute experiments in order to understand the behavior of encapsulated proteins, peptides, and protein-binding small molecules Demonstrated technical / scientific leadership skills and a passion for problem solving Excellent oral and written communication skills Able to work productively in an interdisciplinary team environment Desired Experience: Microscopy techniques such as scanning electron microscope (SEM) Understanding of aerosolization properties and measurements of encapsulated particles. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
