Responsibilities Peraton is seeking an Electrical and Mechanical Field Service Engineer to join our team in Greenbelt, MD, to support our Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution contract working with electronics, mechanical systems, and radio frequency systems. As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA's worldwide satellite communication networks. In this position, you will become part of NASA's return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements. You will work in a dynamic, team-based development environment for the NASA Near Space Network. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting NASA's Search and Rescue Lab (SARLab). The work supports operations, maintenance, and sustainment of SARLab antenna systems and subsystems. Responsibilities will include: . Applying comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
Performing trouble shooting tasks such as replacing components and wiring circuits; repairing simple electronic equipment; and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
Providing hardware maintenance services which may include installation or modification and re-installation of existing equipment, preventive and corrective maintenance, and replacement of equipment as needed to maintain original hardware configuration functionality.
Performing mechanical preventative maintenance tasks on antenna systems which may include lubricating gears, gearbox oil changes, and metal corrosion control.
Ability to understand and follow operational and maintenance procedures without deviation.
Performing duties in accordance with all systems engineering and configuration management policies and procedures.
Write formal documents such as reports, procedures, and failure analyses. Occasionally assists logistics with transfer of materials from Peraton Facility to NASA Goddard.
Work closely with SARLab personnel such as technical lead, operators, and IT security. Able to be on call to support lab during launch and landingsQualifications REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: BS/BA degree and 2+ years experience; AA/AS degree and 4+ years experience; without a degree, 6 - 8+ years of related technical experience is required, which includes 2+ years of technical training. 2+ years of engineering and/or electronics training; RF engineering experience is desired. 2+ years of related experience with hands-on electronic and mechanical systems work. Experience following operational and/or maintenance procedures.
Ability to physically lift up to 50 lbs.
This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship. DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience using test instruments to evaluate electrical components, to include digital multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
Experience in the use of Maximo for managing inventory, maintenance, and calibrations.
Experience integrating and configuring timing equipment for high precision control systems, data measurement, and processing systems/subsystems.
Experience installing and maintaining mechanical equipment including gearboxes and motors
Ability to work well individually and in a team environment Strong communication skills Target Salary Range $66,000 - $106,000.
