Job description
Piper Health & Sciences is actively hiring a VirologyResearch Associate, supporting a unique research organization in the Frederick, MD area. The Virology Research Associate will be responsible for conducting cell-based and immunological testing.
Responsibilities for the Research Associate include:
Provides routine care and maintenance of cell lines using techniques applicable to general cell culture such as thawing cells, scaling up of cell lines, cell bank production, and assays.
Prepares cell culture media, solutions, buffers, other assay-related reagents, makes aliquots and labels for appropriate vials or containers.
Performs large-scale and small-scale nucleic acid extractions (i.e., DNA or RNA).
Assists with maintaining laboratory inventory including restocking consumables, reagents, and equipment as needed.
Complies with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Prepares research cell banks (RCBs) and completes associated documentation for clients (including: cell expansion and vialing, sterility, mycoplasma, and completion of batch records/protocols/cell culture worksheets).
Qualifications for the Research Associate include:
2+ years of academic and/or industry expertise with cell culture techniques is required.
Experience with plaque assays, ELISA, and/or TCID50 is strongly preferred.
Prior experience within a GxP environment and familiarity with GxP protocols is required.
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or similar field is required.
Compensation for the Research Associate includes:
Salary Range: approximately $55,000 - $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience
