Job description

JOB TITLE: Sr. Researcher - Whole Body Biometrics at a Distance LOCATION: Bethesda, MD CLEARANCE: Current Top Secret / SCI with Polygraph JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide SME (Subject Matter Expert) support on a program that aims to develop software algorithm systems capable of performing whole-body biometric identification at long-range and from elevated platforms. The program will address a fusion of biometric modalities to include face recognition combined with whole-body signatures, such as (but not limited to) body shape, anthropometry, and/or gait. Research will address analysis of visible spectrum imagery at ranges out to 1,000 meters and at pitch angles up to 50 degrees. Research advances in the program are expected in the following technical areas: person detection and tracking in full motion video, image enhancement, atmospheric turbulence mitigation, face recognition, gait recognition, and whole-body recognition. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelors' degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, or relevant engineering fields (i.e., electrical, computer, biometrics, systems, mechanical, software) with six plus (6+) years of work experience in one of these fields or Masters' degree with two plus (2+) years of work experience. • Two (2) years' experience in the identity intelligence or biometrics domains. • Two (2) years' experience with system design and integration. • Two (2) years' experience with R&D of image processing. • Two (2) years' experience with R&D of computer vision. • Two (2) years' experience with R&D of software engineering. • One (1) years' experience with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process for human subject research. • One (1) years' experience managing a multi-disciplinary research and development (R&D) or Test and Evaluation (T&E) team. • One (1) years' experience with R&D of machine learning or deep neural network algorithms. • Two (2) years' experience creating program plans, work breakdown structures, and milestone schedules. • One (1) years' experience with technical evaluation and assessment techniques. • Ability to proactively manage multiple, concurrent tasks. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Two (2) years' experience with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). • Two (2) years' experience with optical sensor hardware. • Two (2) years' experience in the Intelligence Community (IC), including experience with requirements, CONOPS, and transition. • Two (2) years' experience managing a multi-disciplinary research and development (R&D) or Test and Evaluation (T&E) team. • Masters' degree or PhD in physics, mathematics, computer science, or relevant engineering fields (i.e., electrical, computer, biometrics, systems, mechanical, software) with four plus (4+) years of work experience. • One (1) years' experience as a Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager. • Two (2) years' experience with planning, organizing, and executing field data collections. • Four (4) years' experience in any, some, or all of the following topics: biometrics, system design and integration, image processing, computer vision, and software engineering. • Two (2) years' experience with R&D of machine learning or deep neural network algorithms. • One (1) year of work experience in any, some, or all of the following technical skills areas: Face Recognition, Gait Recognition, Enhancement of Noisy, Degraded, or Turbulent imagery, Optical Sensor Development, Classified Research, Statistical Analysis.
