Construction Bookkeeper- Baltimore, MD

About the Company and Construction Bookkeeper Opportunity:

  • CFS is partnering with a repeat client in the construction industry in the Baltimore area to find a Construction Bookkeeper on a contract to hire basis
  • Company is very small and laid back and boasts a family feel. They are located in a beautiful and new facility. They offer a casual work environment and this person will work with a tight knit team. Great learning opportunity in the construction industry!
  • This role is fully onsite in Southwest Baltimore City. Schedule is Monday- Friday 7:30am-4pm with some flexibility
    • Work 35-40 hours per week depending on what you are looking for!
    • Free parking on site
  • Reports to the Accounting Manager
  • Annual Salary starting at $50,000

Job Duties of the Construction Bookkeeper:

  • Process AP invoices for three entities (15-20 invoices per week)
  • Match credit card statements with receipts and cost code to different jobs and companies in the accounting system
  • Perform AR, billing, and collections for one entity
  • Lien releases
  • Perform data entry and spreadsheet management
  • Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoices; assists with discrepancy reconciliation
  • Assist with monthly closings, journal entries, and bank statement reconciliation
  • Perform Certified Payroll (compliance reporting) for two entities on a weekly basis
  • Assist with related special projects as needed

Qualifications for the Construction Bookkeeper:

  • 2+ years' recent accounting experience required
    • Knowledge of AP, AR, job costing, and/or Certified Payroll highly preferred
  • Experience in the construction industry and understanding of terminology is a plus
  • Experience using Foundation accounting software a plus but not required
  • Basic Excel skills (create formulas, sorting, comfortable navigating within preexisting spreadsheets) and knowledge of Google Suite beneficial
  • Strong organization skills, dedicated, and highly detail oriented
