The Test Operations Department at Northrop Grumman Oceanic Systems is seeking a dependable Test Technician to support our Undersea Systems business portfolio at the Annapolis, MD campus. The Test Operations Department provides high-quality electrical, acoustical, electro-optical, and electro-mechanical (hydrostatic, environmental, hydraulic/pneumatic) data to support design, development and manufacturing of game-changing maritime technologies - including submarine SONAR sensors, mine hunting systems, and autonomous uncrewed undersea systems - that help ensure America's undersea dominance and national security. The Test Technician will perform environmental tests and measurements of electronic, acoustic, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic assemblies and components using a combination of standard COTS and custom test equipment. This position requires operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical lab equipment and facilities, as well as consistent compliance with test specifications. The Test Technician will also: Work from test specifications obtained from higher classified personnel and/or obtain necessary specifications from engineering as required, using established procedures. Set up and operate environmental test equipment and facilities. Interpret resulting data as to its reliability and validity. Submit written and/or oral test reports, receive work assignments, instructions and guidance. Perform construction and wiring of test fixtures and test chassis working from drawings, schematics and /or oral instructions. Troubleshoot for defects in assemblies and systems. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and 4 years of relevant experience OR associate's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and 2 years of relevant experience. Experience testing and troubleshooting electronics systems. Hands-on knowledge of common test equipment set up and operation (power supplies, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.) Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (US Citizenship required). Must be able to work overtime and alternate shifts as required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with environmental test practices (Vibration, Thermal, Hydrostatic). Experience with SONAR operation and testing and a basic understanding of underwater sound principles. Familiarity with automated test software products such as NI LabVIEW & TestStand. Hydraulic and mechanical skills and experience. Experience with U.S. Navy-related electronic and mechanical systems. Current Secret or Top Secret Clearance, and ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance. Experience planning and performing a wide variety of electrical tasks including calibration/metrology and/or assembly. Qualification and experience with common industry standard practices, such as FOD, ESD, Electrical Safety, and basic solder is preferred.Salary Range: $47,730 - $114,211
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
