Data Scientist Do you have a strong interest in tackling complex data challenges, with a focus on cybersecurity and analytics development? Bestgate Engineering is seeking a Data Scientist with specialized skills in analytical development to support a prominent cyber sensor and analytics modernization program. In this role, you will analyze and characterize extensive datasets, create insightful data visualizations, and identify anomalous or noteworthy behavior in the cyber domain. This position is well-suited for individuals with experience in cybersecurity analysis, discovery operations, and algorithm design and development within cloud environments.
Responsibilities: • Generate data visualizations that illuminate dataset structure and meaning, aiding strategic decision-making. • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to uncover critical information within raw data, developing scripts to extract this information from various formats such as SQL tables, structured metadata, and network logs. • Convert SME insights into feature vectors essential for analytic development and testing. • Transform customer qualitative analysis processes and objectives into quantitative formulations, implementing these into software prototypes. • Employ statistical, machine learning, and heuristic techniques to develop descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. • Design statistical tests for data-driven recommendations and decisions. • Initiate experiments for data collection or simulate models to compensate for unavailable data. • Optimize feature vectors for machine learning algorithms, selecting and fine-tuning the most suitable algorithms for each dataset. • Evaluate and validate analytic performance using established techniques and metrics, such as cross-validation, ROC curves, and confusion matrices.
Key Qualifications: • Demonstrated expertise in data visualization and the ability to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets. • Experience working with SMEs to identify and extract valuable information from a variety of data formats. • Ability to translate qualitative analysis into quantitative, software-coded formulations. • Strong foundation in developing and implementing statistical, machine learning, and heuristic analytics. • Skilled in developing statistical tests, experiments for data collection, and model simulations. • Proficiency in developing and optimizing feature vectors and selecting appropriate machine learning algorithms. • Capability to evaluate and validate analytic performance using standard techniques and metrics.
