Job description

Duties The incumbent supports Installation Geographic Information and Services (IGIS) through analysis, maintenance, and updates to the Geographic Information System (GIS) database. Ensure the GIS Data is reconciled with Real Property Inventory (RPI). Modify and update exiting datasets to adhere to changes in project scope, site, and orientation. Present data in the form of maps, documents, graphics, and databases; and assistance in the preparation of reports. Collaborate directly with the Real Property Accountable Officer and other Realty Specialist for acquisition and acceptance of new assets and construction in progress. Coordinate with the Network Enterprise Command (NEC) to acquire appropriate server space, and authority to operate, for GIS software and data. Support and facilitate planning and executing full scale emergency operations exercises by developing mapping products in real time. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must perform temporary duty (TDY) travel approximately 5% of time. Participation in immediate projects may require extended work hours. This position requires employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and as such may potentially be exposed to hazardous and toxic substances and environment during inspections of firing ranges and training areas and a requirement to enter the impact area. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position. Obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination. Must have successfully completed the Inter-service Resident Range Safety Course (Intermediate). This position is approved for Hazardous Duty Pay and the incumbent may be eligible for hazard duty pay differential when assigned to work in an area approved for hazardous duty pay. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Specialized experience including technical work in the areas such as: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. OR Experience in a trade or craft that work required intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents for example trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: a Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes or an Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. OR Certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1. analysis, maintenance, and updates to the Geographic Information System (GIS) database.2.) Development and maintain regulating and zoning database layers for geographic districts within the installation boundary including, land use functional requirements, land use physical condition, traffic circulation, anti-terrorism requirements, development analysis, and real estate interests and boundaries. 3) Converts CAD drawings into GIS to incorporate new data or changes to existing data. AND 4) Serve as the data base technician for the Geographic Information System (GIS) data for a US Army Garrison. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
