Job description

Duties You will serve as an Electrician and be responsible for requires knowledge and application of electrical principles, materials, and safety standards. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Installing, modifying, repairing, loading and testing system, circuits, equipment and control in support of other building trades. Interpreting and applying the National Electrical Code, local code, building plan, blueprints, wiring diagram, and engineering drawing. Determining the location of existing electrical devices and service entrances and places no one. Installing, modifying, repairing, and maintaining electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associative fixtures, controls and equipment. Maintaining an adequate stockpile of part and consumables used in the operation and maintenance of the system. Working with and impart knowledge to engineers of the watch and junior personnel who may be less skilled or experience in these skills and who may need to learn to complete these tasks themselves. Qualifications To qualify for the Electrician, WG-2805-10, applicants must meet the following screen-out job element to be considered for this position: Job Element : Ability To Do the Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) to be considered eligible for the position. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. To meet the screen-out examples of the duties includes: Skill in troubleshooting and repairing equipment, in marine (maritime), industrial, institutional, or commercial settings, providing the full range of electrical support in the areas of installation, diagnosis, repairing of electrical wiring, pulling of wires, and all other preventative maintenance. Have repaired/troubleshoot/diagnosis marine (maritime) generators(genset) and Transformers, Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience.
