POSITION SUMMARY
Gulf Management is seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Controller to join our growing operations team in Covington, Louisiana. The primary function of the Assistant Controller is to assist the Controller in driving accurate financial processes and supporting operational goals. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, managing daily accounting activities, preparing various months and year end accruals, reconciliations, producing financial reports, assisting in audits, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. To be successful in this role, candidates will have a strong background in accounting practices and financial acumen that has been developed through a combination of education and experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in managing operational data and ensuring data integrity and accuracy
Assist in managing system hardware and software applications
Provide technical systems support to company owned locations
Assist in operational procedures and documentation of data flow
Assist in system controls to ensure data integrity
Assist the Controller in producing accurate and timely financial statements
Assist in the month end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation
Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
Participate in preparation for the annual audit
Assist in the development of reports for management
Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
Assist in special projects as necessary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. degree in Accounting Required
Multi-company Experience Required
Two to four years of experience in public/private accounting preferred
Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
Experience with Vista (Viewpoint), Paperless Environments a plus
Must be able to successfully complete the pre-employment process including a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle report (MVR)

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong time management skills
- Strong computer skills including a proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle multiple priorities
