Our Mission
At Boys & Girls Haven, we provide a Home and a Future for some of Kentucky's most vulnerable and at risk youth. As a nonprofit foster care agency, we exist to Shelter, Heal, and Teach children and young adults to become resilient members of our community through an integrated spectrum of care.

Core Schedule: Monday-Friday typically 9-5 may vary some, with on call rotation.
Salary Range $50,000 - $58,000
Role Summary: The Pre-Independent Living Therapist is a licensed or provisionally licensed therapist with a wide range of experience to assist young adult clients, ages 17-21, in an individual, family and/or group setting. The Therapist must be proficient at delivering trauma-informed services in a variety of settings. This employee is required to adhere to BGH's clinical protocols, agency and departmental policies and procedures as well as rules, regulations, standards and the like that govern their respective discipline's code of ethics.
Essential Functions :

  1. Treatment- Ensure client information is kept confidential. Provide trauma-informed therapy services to clients, ages 17-21, in a Trauma Resilient Community. Collaborate with clients, staff, therapy team members and DCBS workers, etc. to access community resources and ensure treatment goals are fully supported. Perform clinical services and complete required documentation within the parameters of clinical protocol. Conduct initial and comprehensive assessments with clients and create individualized treatment plans based on results. Provide planned interventions during individual, group and family therapy and assist clients in achieving identified treatment goals. Ensure the development and implementation of transition and discharge plans throughout services. Problem-solve crises in an efficient and effective manner helping to maintain a therapeutic atmosphere. Promptly respond to clients' urgent needs during clinical on-call rotation. In collaboration with program staff, provide support and supervision of milieu, on an as-needed basis. Other clinical duties as assigned.
  2. Training - Comply with licensing, accreditation, regulatory and other applicable standards as appropriate. Assess appropriateness of ongoing clinical training and assist in the modification of the curriculum when necessary. Attend a minimum of 40 hours of training per year to maintain supervisory and credentialing provisions dictated by individual certifications and regulatory agencies. Participate in all mandatory BGH trainings as assigned.
  3. Administrative Responsibilities -Perform administrative duties such as timely completion of necessary/relevant forms, reports, evaluation, studies, etc. and other department-related documentation.
  4. Operation of Company Vehicles
Unplanned Activities : At BGH, we value teamwork. To meet departmental and organizational goals, the employee is expected to assist with activities that are not formal parts of the role's essential functions.
Qualifications :
  1. Education - Master's degree or higher from an accredited university.
  2. Experience/Credentials - At least 2 years clinical experience working with adolescents and young adults with a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges, preferably in a residential, independent living or other relevant work environment. Must have applicable professional licensure (e.g. LCSW, LPCA, LPCC, MFTA, or LWT). CSW, LPCA, MFTA under supervision will be considered. Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills, including proficiency with appropriate computer software/hardware (i.e., Windows, Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software/hardware). Receptive to feedback, excellent time management and enthusiastic learner.
  3. Other - Interact professionally with BGH clients, employees, volunteers, visitors, government agencies and the public. Maintain confidentiality of all client information. Must be at least 21 years of age and legally able to work in U.S. Valid driver's license and insurability by BGH's insurance carrier required if expected to transport clients and/or use company vehicles. Successful completion of all background screenings and pre-employment drug screen.
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: stand, walk and sit; use hands to manually manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to read, write and converse in English.

Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a standard office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee works with young people between the ages of 17 - 21, who may exhibit challenging behaviors and be in varying levels of crisis. As a result, employees may experience verbal and physical aggression and may be at risk of injury. In addition, they will come into contact with BGH clients, clients' family members and other support persons in the office, at schools and other venues. They will interact with other BGH staff members, volunteers and other members of the community.
