How you make a difference:

The Medical Director and Addictionologist oversees all clinical programs, both new and existing, and reviews and schedules any necessary changes or additions, providing recommendations to the Facility Administrator. They are involved in the assessment, planning, linkage, monitoring, and advocacy of patients assigned to clinicians in specific departments. Develops and conducts educational programs related to drug and alcohol abuse, participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning conferences, and ensures the comprehensive delivery of quality mental healthcare in accordance with facility protocols. They will provide comprehensive substance use services including assessments, treatment, and support for recovery to dually diagnosed individuals.

Key Responsibilities:
Supervise psychiatric care and practices, chair facility committees and task forces, represent the facility's clinical position to the community and state, review referrals for admission, and liaise with advocates, families, and administration.
Review cases, lead peer reviews, participate in multidisciplinary teams and court proceedings, and engage in clinical performance improvement (PI) projects, chart reviews, and mortality reviews.
Interview candidates, evaluate clinical competency, retain physicians, and review physician performance, while providing in-service training to other departments.
Provide direct psychiatric care including evaluations, psychopharmacologic treatment, psychotherapy, court evaluations, and discharges, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and maintaining age-specific competency and patient safety.
Assess and counsel individuals with substance use disorders, develop and provide education programs, collaborate with medical and detoxification staff, contribute to discharge planning, and offer training and consultation on substance use disorders.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

Medical Doctor (MD) or Osteopathic Doctor (DO) from an accredited university.

Experience

Seven years of professional experience in providing services to persons with psychiatric disabilities, two years of which must have been at the administrative clinical level, assistant director or its equivalent.

Licenses/Certifications

Licensed in state of employment to practice medicine. Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Compliance
Board certification in Addiction Medicine
Current DEA license

Additional Details : -This position is for FT/day shift. -This position requires a physician with addiction experience.
