Job description

This position will be comprised of both inpatient and outpatient job responsibilities that include hospital rounding, evaluation and coordination of patient care with physicians, patient consults, and follow-up appointments, as well as participation in the on-call rotation. The Ideal candidate will have previous experience in hematology, medical oncology and/or inpatient nursing.

SUMMARY:

The APRN functions to assist the physician in the delivery of primary medical care; obtains historical/physical data on patients; interprets and integrates findings to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; assists in management of treatment plans, provides technical assistance and assurance of patient care; maintains positive relationships with patients, family members, visitors and fellow employees; practices under supervision and guidance of the physician.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training that will be indicated by graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program; School of graduate nursing at Master's degree level with experience and certification in area of Oncology; current licensure by the Kentucky or current state board of nursing and be in good standing; exam eligible or certified as an Advanced Oncology Nurse Specialty; graduation from an accredited program of physician assistance studies; Physician Assistant certification; and a current Kentucky State Board licensure. Healthcare provider CPR certification required.

PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps up to eight hours per day; lift, move and transport patients, equipment, supplies; motor coordination and manual dexterity; ability to communicate effectively; ability to read/understand orders; visual acuity.
