Job description

Looking for a Legal Assistant to assist lawyers by researching legal precedents, investigating facts, or preparing legal documents. A typical paralegal is responsible for conducting research to support a legal proceeding, formulate a defense or initiate legal action.

Required Education:

  • Associate's degree in paralegal studies or equivalent training required.

    Required Experience:

  • Prepare correspondence and legal papers such as summonses, complaints, motions, responses, and subpoenas under the supervision of an attorney or a paralegal.

  • Review legal journals and assist with legal research.

  • May assist new lawyers in preparing documents for submission to the courts.

  • Assist attorneys in collecting information such as employment, medical, and other records.

  • Attend legal meetings, such as client interviews, hearings, or depositions, and take notes.

  • Scanner operation / Scanning (mail)

  • Accessing the Online Record Collection Vendor's website. Ability to upload authorizations, input medical providers contact information for requesting records.

  • Manually adding follow-up tasks to our litigation management software (Passport)

  • Accessing outside documents via email link and importing same.

  • Scheduling external file sharing of documents

  • Basic ability to work independently and manage one's time.

  • Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
