Supported by the Department budget & related experience/education Preference in employment actions exercised in accordance with applicable law. Questions before applying? Role: The Early Head Start Home Visitor assures that through a planned program of experiences, the parental role as the principal influence in the child's development will be supported and enhanced to meet individual differences and needs of each child and family in the home-based program. The EHS Home Visitor will work as a team between the families and childcare providers (home and center) to give support and assistance to recognize the family strengths and to develop linkages and relationships within the community for any services needed. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Minimum Requirements: Experience: One or Two years of relatable experience in Psychology, childcare, or social work. Education: Home-based CDA credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate or bachelor's degree program in early childcare education or a related field. Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essentials elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the PBPN for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation. Knowledge: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, tribal, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. Skills: Monitoring -Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action. Service Orientation -Actively looking for ways to help people. Social Perceptiveness -Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Active Listening -Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Coordination -Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions. Critical Thinking -Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Active Learning -Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Problem Solving -Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Judgment and Decision Making -Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Abilities: The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem. The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
