Audit Services Intern - May 2024 - May 2025

Who We Are: Audit Services is an independent, objective assurance or consulting activity within Farm Bureau Financial Services and affiliated companies whose activities are designed to bring a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate, and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. The objectives of the Audit Services Department are to assist the Audit Committees, Management Team, and other managers of the companies in the effective discharge of their responsibilities. This is done by evaluating their risk management, control and governance processing, and discussing issues, risks and appropriate solutions.

We are seeking a talented student to be involved and learn the daily activities of an auditor. If you are a dependable and professional student looking to gain audit experience, we want to hear from you!

What You'll Do: As an Audit Services intern, you will participate in process walkthroughs to evaluate financial statement risks/ controls. You will also have the opportunity to begin documenting walkthroughs and support staff in the completion of control testing. Other administrative functions such as time reporting may also be an expectation.

Our internship program holds an 80/10/10 approach, meaning that 80% of your work time will involve performing tasks or working on projects within your hired work area. Another 10% of the time, you will be exposed to learning in other areas within your assigned division to get more corporate experience. Then, the final 10% will be spent in shared experiences across the organization, where you will get to really learn about our culture and work environment.

What It Takes to Join Our Team:

  • Must be a current student (junior / senior status preferred) with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Must be able to live out our corporate values of integrity, service, leadership, accountability, teamwork and passion.
  • Must have excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Should be majoring in Accounting, Finance or Management Information Systems.
  • Should be at an intermediate level of accounting, finance, or audit coursework.
  • Must be looking for an internship experience May 2024 through May 2025 (38.75 hours per week in the summer and 10-20 hours per week during the school year) working from our office in West Des Moines, Iowa.
