Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Payments Supervisor is responsible to for the daily operations of payment processing to include leadership of payment processors and specialists. As the expert in all payment topics, this position will maintain advanced knowledge and expertise in all payments topics, developing specialized knowledge in ACH Origination, ACH Processing, Checks (including foreign deposit items), Faster Payments (FedNow/RTP/Zelle), Remote Capture (ATM/ITM/Lockbox/MRDC/RDC), and Wires (Domestic and International). The Payments Supervisor also serves as the primary subject matter expert for payments for all department, credit union, and regulatory compliance purposes as well as the escalation point for daily payment tasks.

Salary range for this position is $103,793.30 - $138,917.48 with a progressive benefit package.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change.

- Ensures confidentiality of member information.

- Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and/or Credit Union sponsored events, on an annual basis.
- Leadership
- Supervises a team of Payment Processors and Specialists.
- Maintains and builds a team to meet the needs of a growing financial institution.
- Holds regular training sessions and team meetings.
- Coaches team members in daily troubleshooting and developing payment expertise.
- Prepares and conducts performance evaluations and any necessary performance counseling.
- Sets goals and conducts staff one-on-ones and guides staff in developing action plans to achieve operational results.
- Works closely with management in developing, documenting, reviewing and updating of policies and procedures for payment operations, which includes but is not limited to, the ongoing support, compliance, training, coaching, and understanding of payment practices and regulations.
- Oversees all processes carried out and handled by payment operations staff to ensure that they are carried out according to established policies and procedures.
- Prepares and effectively submits required reports, attends meetings, assists in budget preparation and adherence, and recommends cost/time savings measures for the department.
- Stays abreast of changes in regulations, policies, and industry practices to ensure continued compliance.
- Participates in projects as assigned by Vice President Accounting Operations.
- Compliance and Subject Matter Expert
- Maintains knowledge of and acts as a resource on current rules and regulations.
- Obtains and maintains available accredited certifications.
- Analyzes and responds to complex issues. Acts as a point of escalation for team.
- Works on special assignments including audits, business continuity preparation and response, new product implementations, and adjustments to processes and systems to address regulatory changes.
- Performs any other temporary or permanent duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field and/or equivalent years' experience is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5-8 years of financial institution or other applicable industry-related work experience with 3-5 years of demonstrated progressive leadership experience.
- Preferred experience in payment operations at a $10 Billion+ financial institution.
- Required to hold current AAP certification.
- Preferred additional certifications in areas of specialization (e.g. APRP, NCP, FPP).
- Has an advanced understanding of general ledgers (e.g. debits, credits) and related functions.
- Demonstrates critical thinking to identify efficiencies or new approaches for current operating procedures.
- Ability to research, understand, and relate complex concepts and information from various legal and regulatory sources and to apply those concepts to credit union policies and procedures.
- Proficiency with and the ability to learn a wide variety of related computer applications.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to efficiently multi-task, prioritize, and meet
deadlines for multiple work assignments in a demanding environment. - Positive attitude and a team-first focus with an emphasis on providing outstanding service.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees and
outside vendors. - Self-directed nature with the ability to work independent of direct supervision in complex and
ambiguous environments, using experience and judgement to make quick, effective decisions
under pressure. - Excellent oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, telephone and email manners and
etiquette. - Reports to work punctually, works all scheduled hours, and works overtime as necessitated by
business demand. - Ability and willingness to respond quickly outside of standard business hours to troubleshoot or
address system failures or processing issues. - Must be Bondable.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Vice President/Accounting Operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the supervision of others.
