Responsible for working within the established guidelines of the Imaging Services as assigned. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Responsible for carrying out the philosophy and objectives established by the Board of Directors and the Management team. Adheres to detail in the technical performance of procedures, providing excellent customer service, solving practical and analytical problems, resolving conflict and implementing constructive change.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care

Greets all customers using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Experience and Thank you), coworkers and healthcare providers with a pleasant, professional manner and appearance. Must be able to adapt/communicate to variety of situations according to the age of the patients served.
Performs procedural exams within specified turnaround time for assigned area, and documents history of patient.
Documents all necessary information in the performance of technical procedures, including adequate history and quality control.
Consistently demonstrates attention to detail, following protocol for patient history, imaging exams, and patient identification with labeling.
Presents breast and bone cases for diagnostic clinic per radiologist guidelines.
Moves patient and imaging equipment into specified position. Determines exposure factors based on patient characteristics and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors.
Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
Completes mammogram callbacks. Secures retrieval of prior studies. Schedules and obtain orders in a prompt and consistent manner.
Assists with setting up sterile trays and administration of contrast agents according to procedure guidelines and radiologist direction.
Perform patient transfers with approved transfer mobility equipment.
Assist with mentoring students from the Radiologic Technology program.

Non-Direct Patient Care

Provides guidance to team members on the handling of complex or novel issues.
Preparedness and readiness for state inspection and other accrediting bodies (Iowa Department of Public Health, American College of Radiology, FDA, JCAHO, OSHA, and EQUIP standards.
Monitors personal technical performance of imaging; analyzes technical and operational problems and provides Manager with improved methods and techniques.
Oversees equipment quality control testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Helps mentor/train new staff as applicable.
Completes work in RIS and PACS. Proficient in EPIC and MRS systems.
Evaluate the mammographic images for technical quality such as density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
Orders and assures adequate supplies are available and utilized in a cost-effective manner.
Attends monthly staff meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Cleans equipment after procedures per department policy.
Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology and ARRT certified.
1-2 years of clinical experience.
Must have certification in radiology through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Current permit through the Iowa Department of Public Health. Current validation of CPR and AED training.
Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Basic computer skills and typing. Customer/patient focused. Critical thinking skills using independent decision making while maintaining confidentiality. Cooperative, courteous and dependable working performance. Work with high integrity and always maintain confidentiality. Expected to understand and support the Mission and Vision of St. Luke's Hospital. Understands and adheres to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) while performing exams to minimize risk/injury or exposure to ionizing radiation.
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
