POSITION SUMMARY

The Crisis Stabilization Technician (Milieu Specialist) functions as a leader in providing de-escalation and support strategies to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. The Crisis Stabilization Technician also provides effective support to facilitate improvement in client functioning level in a Crisis Stabilization Unit operated by a Community Mental Health Center (CMHC). The Crisis Stabilization Technician must be able to work various shifts.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers of individuals
  • Conducts ongoing observation of individuals for the purpose of reporting any significant changes, including close observation
  • Responds quickly to critical situations that may require restrictive interventions
  • Performs room safety checks, insuring that individuals are safe from potentially dangerous objects
  • Monitors behavioral interventions/close observations
  • Reports and confers with supervisor on changes in client behavior
  • Prepares paperwork and other documentation as required
  • Communicates and documents critical incidents to supervisors
  • Implements, evaluates and document specific interventions that are utilized to provide client safety

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Provides verbal de-escalation to clients
  • Assists clients with personal hygiene and meals
  • Maintains and assures client confidentiality
  • Interacts in a supportive manner to family members and visitors
  • Assists in chart auditing and files paper and documents in chart binders
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience working in the mental health field or crisis environment is preferred.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION

  • CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) are required; organization will provide if not already attained.
