About Madison Correctional Facility: As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Madison Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Madison Correctional Facility is a minimum security Correctional facility, of adult females. Madison Correctional Facility is located in Madison, Indiana. At Madison Correctional Facility, incarcerated individuals are involved in programming and work various jobs, both on grounds and off. The goal is that through treatment and rehabilitation, the facility will help prepare incarcerated women to re-enter their community with more skills and confidence than when they arrived. Role Overview: A s a Plant Foreman, you will be given guidelines, technical manuals, and performance expectations and be required to exercise independent judgment as necessary to supervise a shift of offenders without direct supervision. You will be responsible for the quality of goods produced and staying on production schedule. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: + Supervise offender workers in the production work of assigned shop. + Provide on-the-job training to offenders in the manufacturing, processing, and/or shipping of products. + Ensure that the offenders register and fulfill the training according to work processes as defined by United States Department of Labor (USDOL) Apprenticeship Program. + Perform or supervise the set up and maintenance of equipment. + Provide all applicable safety training to offender workers for assigned areas of supervision. + Monitor quality control of finished goods and work being performed. What You'll Need for Success: You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: + High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE). + Four (4) years of full-time experience in the production of goods or services, or related experience. + Substitution: Each two (2) years of high school may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. + Completion of an accredited vocational training program related to the area of assignment may substitute for the required experience with a maximum substitution of one (1) year. + Thorough knowledge of one or more of the areas of manufacturing, including knowledge of equipment maintenance and set-up. + Ability to follow production schedules and monitor quality of work. + Ability to resolve operational problems. + Ability to supervise offenders performing work that requires exactness and accuracy, while ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with custody policy and procedure. Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group. This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
