Position Summary:

STARPLUS ENERGY LLC is seeking a knowledgeable, dynamic and detail-oriented Environmental Specialist to join our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Team. As a key member of our EHS team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the permitting, environmental compliance, and environmental impact reduction. The ideal candidate will possess audit skills, organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for contributing to sustainable business practices. This position reports to the Environmental Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead, implement and optimize environmental management systems (standards, procedures, processes) in the assigned area
  • Partner with facilities to incorporate site/corporate sustainability initiatives and goals into facility programs and processes including proposed project changes, permitting needs/compliance requirements
  • Work with project teams to implement elements of sustainability, climate change, environmental justice, and circular economy
  • Manage permit/regulatory compliance including providing data/information for permit applications for new and modified equipment
  • Develop and deliver environmental training, including ongoing coaching
  • Work with facility personnel to prepare periodic compliance reports such as Title V, emissions/waste reports such as Global Emissions Inventory, Toxic Release Inventory, Air Emissions Inventory, Annual Waste Summary, Greenhouse Gas, as well as facility plans such as SWP3, etc
  • Provide data for regulatory agencies requirements and respond to inquiries for development of environmental permits and agency investigations.
  • Collaborate with environmental experts to provide and evaluate potential impact of proposed regulations and provide constructive comments/advocacy to agencies for flexibility that is protective of the environment
  • Perform other position related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Basic:

  • 2 years' experience as an Environmental Specialist in a manufacturing field
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field
  • A combination of education and industry experience will be considered in the event no degree is obtained
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required

Preferred:

  • Masters' Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional certification as a CHMM, or equivalent

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work around the potential exposure to dust and chemicals
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE as deemed essential for the job function
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
