Purpose:

The purpose of the Project Management role within Statistics Data and Analytics (SDnA) Business Capabilities Management is to drive the application and integration of project management processes and tools across SDnA to help deliver assets and portfolio value with quality on time, on budget and within scope. In addition, Project Management - SDnA ensures the quality and organizational excellence of SDnA by supporting performance of functional processes, and influencing team culture. The Project Management - SDnA facilitates and enables the delivery of integrated plans by being responsible for and effectively managing relationships and communications between Lilly teams and functions, and SDnA.

Primary Responsibilities:

The term "Project team" is used throughout the JD, this can reference a compound team, business capability team, or any other team related to a project.

Project Management
  • develop and maintain realistic project management plans and timelines and help ensure on time results
  • Effectively manage communications, anticipate and resolve issues with the project team, ensure documentation of key information and decisions.
  • Ensure quality and organizational excellence of the assigned project team; supporting performance of SDnA. Monitors and reports performance to plan and drives project team when plan is not being achieved
  • Drives operations meetings or other appropriate forums to prospectively manage upcoming project team related activities, key milestones, and decisions, as well as to proactively identify updates to project plans
  • Understand the drivers in SDnA projects and able to explain changes and variance questions
  • Adapt quickly to project changes to ensure current forecasts and facilitate business decisions
  • Seek opportunities to capture, share and incorporate takeaways into future iterations of processes, tools, training or guidance.
  • Projects and responsibilities may span across event planning, recruiting, functional and portfolio projects, portfolio work, business analysis and SDnA engagement including DE&I.
Communication and Team Management
  • Influences and works with a quality mentality across the project team by documenting key decisions, actions, and key modifications in scope, resources and timeline; ensuring accurate collection and communication of metrics throughout projects
  • Ensures coordination of meeting logistics and provision of meeting agendas and meeting minutes/action items.
  • Effectively and reliably communicates and influences upward in the organization by providing clear and concise information to enable decision-making
  • Contribute to the development of others by being an active source of coaching and feedback to coworkers.
Leadership:
  • Enable cross-functional results through people, using influence rather than direct or positional authority (influence without authority)
  • Lead the SDnA project teams with judgment-based decisions
  • Lead others through expertise in business management processes and procedures
  • Adapt quickly to change and assist others in aligning with the changes.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management or clinical research/clinical trial experience
Additional Preferences:
  • Previous experience with scientific communications or statistics functional processes is a plus
  • Strong computer skills; skilled at using Word, Excel (including pivot tables), PowerPoint, Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, MS Teams and Microsoft Project
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to communicate clearly and succinctly with team members
  • Strong problem-solving skills; able to anticipate and recognize problems, diagnose root causes and take corrective action to prevent recurrence within the team, lead without authority
  • Excellent self-management and organizational skills; able to manage workload and adjust personal priorities, as needed based on guidance from supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills; able to develop effective teamwork between team members with diverse interpersonal styles; able to deliver effective coaching and feedback. Flexibility to adjust quickly and effectively to frequent change and altered priorities
  • Practical experience performing project management for multiple projects
