The Lead Engineering Technician - Process Control Extended Coverage provides frontline automation technical support for manufacturing operations in accordance with appropriate GMP and safety guidelines. This includes troubleshooting, support of change control implementation and deviation investigations, and routine automation computer system support activities.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
Manufacturing Operations Automation Support
- Provide frontline automation technical support to manufacturing operations for process control system software, platforms and/or process information systems (e.g., data historians).
- Ability to configure process control systems and troubleshoot computer system software and hardware.
- Assist in investigating and resolving issues related to automation and process control systems.
- Extract continuous, batch, and event data from process control systems.
- Support the design and implementation of automation related changes to manufacturing operations, as well as qualification activities.
- Perform system support activities (e.g., system backups, performance monitoring, password maintenance, etc.).
- Perform all work in a manner consistent with Lilly policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ability to work in a safe manner and ensure safety of others.
Basic Requirements:
- Associate of Science in Engineering or Technology degree or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working in a regulated or chemical manufacturing environment.
- Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn the application of computer systems (Distributed Control Systems and PLCs).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including computer code/software.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and requests.
- Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
Additional Preferences:
- Previous experience with Lilly deviation and change control process.
- Previous experience with automation/building management control systems.
- Experience working in a regulated or chemical manufacturing environment for 2+ years.
- Experience with DeltaV or similar process control system.
Other Information:
- The shift will be a function of business need and position. This may include 12-hour night shifts, 3 on/3 off.
- Tasks require entering manufacturing and laboratory areas which require wearing appropriate PPE.
- No certifications required.
