Organization Overview:
The Global Packaging group is responsible for providing engineering and technical support for Lilly's commercial packaging operations worldwide. The group is also responsible for integration with the development organization as it relates to the delivery of packaging for new molecules and line extensions. The Global Serialization Program is responsible for monitoring all country legislations and assuring that Lilly's products are uniquely identified and tracked through the supply chain.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking an NFC/RFID Engineer to design and implement innovative wireless communication solutions for application in the pharmaceutical packaging space. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, with specialized knowledge in NFC (Near Field Communication) and RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Select and test NFC/RFID readers for a range of applications and systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate NFC/RFID technologies into our pharmaceutical packaging lines.
- Provide technical leadership and project management for NFC/RFID and traceability projects.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends and advancements in NFC/RFID technology.
- Knowledge sharing - Serve as a key resource to support site teams, domestic and global and gain support for ideas or positions on difficult issues.
- Analysis of operations, workflows, and packaging process to provide solutions to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
- Major Capital Support - Provide support to Global Facilities Delivery for both conceptual and detailed design and testing on Major capital projects.
- Approve the design of packaging equipment based on the user requirements
- Develop the Verification strategy based on the design and failure model analysis of the equipment
- Perform engineering analysis and prepare reports to define the optimal operating ranges for equipment parameters
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting during the commissioning and qualification phase.
- Perform commissioning and qualification testing on the equipment.
- Provide technical support for integration of the line with site automation systems and serialization equipment
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a packaging plant, packaging process, packaging asset delivery, maintenance or related fields supporting packaging operations
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Serialization/Track and Trace experience
- 2+ years of experience in NFC/RFID technology development
- Knowledge of industry standards, compliance regulations, and security protocols associated with NFC and RFID technologies
- Experience with packaging equipment, specifications, qualification/validation process
- Problem solving skills - anticipates and resolves complex problems
- Ability to work independently and with minimal direction
- Ability to work across boundaries (functional, geographic, external company, etc)
- Thorough technical understanding of quality systems and regulatory requirements
Additional Information:
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time, US and international
- Will require occasional work in a variety of manufacturing environments; some safety equipment and/or gowning may be required
- This is not a remote position and will require on-site presence
