Department Information

This position supports multiple ongoing research programs within the newly formed Center for Health by Design (CHxD), an interdisciplinary research center, supported by the School of Public Health at Indiana University-Bloomington. The CHxD exists to accelerate the science and impact of cutting-edge, human-centered health behavior interventions in high-priority areas (e.g., cardiovascular disease, cancer, dementia, metabolic disease). CHxD achieves this by cultivating a transformative research community that empowers interdisciplinary teams who dare to design human-centered interventions advancing health and wellness for all. Center members are national thought leaders in the human-centered health intervention research arena who advance the science of human-centered design and rigorous scientific testing of health interventions. Founding co-directors Drs. Nicole Werner and Richard Holden are joined by 7 faculty Executive Council members and Center Scholars to collectively perform strategic and operational governance of the Center.

Job Summary

  • Maintains and updates website so it is current and accurately reflects CHxD staff, research and publications, and news and events.
  • Monitors and updates CHxD social media accounts with CHxD news and events.
  • Assists with developing and updating various CHxD communications materials (brochures, flyers, etc.)
  • Updates CHxD member email lists.
  • Responds to or redirects CHxD emails and phone calls.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.
SKILLS

Required
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism.
  • Demonstrates a high commitment to quality.
  • Possesses capacity to work with multiple groups (faculty, staff, students, and other professionals) in a fast-paced, highly energetic, research environment.
  • Thorough and dependable with a high degree of initiative.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, detail-oriented and willing to accept and initiate new projects.
  • Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong organizational, communication, writing, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of typical office software.
Preferred
  • Experience with social media and communications.
  • Knowledge of design software (e.g., Canva, Figma, Biorender).

Working Conditions / Demands

The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Additional Information

Must be able to work during the summer.
