Department Information
The Madhusudan and Kiran C. Dhar India Studies Program at Indiana University Bloomington promotes original research and innovative teaching on all aspects of the Indian subcontinent.
Job Summary
- Manages record-keeping and database compilation related to Dhar India Studies Program affiliates
- Manages and archives materials from programming including colloquia, panels, tabling events, conferences, and seminars
- Responsible for outreach programming planning and implementation (i.e., attendance figures, participant surveys)
- Provides assistance in Dhar India Studies Program associated faculty and student information
- Executes Dhar India Studies Program events focusing on logistical arrangements, biographical compilations, and event publicly organization
- May serve as the primary liaison for student or speaker inquiries, event and travel grant opportunity promotion, project-relevant research and planning, organizing networking and speaker events as well as implementation (i.e. attendance figures), and preparing activity summary reports, and generating the honoraria, travel, and per diem arrangements for SGIS shared support staff to process
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
Preferred
- Experience in website Management and social media outreach
Required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely and accurate manner
- Operational knowledge of standard office equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook and Excel
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge and interest in South Asian area studies
- Ability to design promotional materials using Adobe Suite and other similar software

$25 per hour
Work Hours
This position will average 15 hours per week.
