Job Summary

We are looking for a talented and dedicated HR Business partner, that specializes in recruiting to join our IU Research HR team. In addition to talent acquisition, this role will encompass position management and entering new hire paperwork into our HR systems. Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and help develop job descriptions.
  • Executes end-to-end recruitment processes, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and presenting candidates.
  • Manages candidate pipelines and help coordinate interviews.
  • Ensures a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
  • Leverages knowledge of best practices for sourcing and managing diverse talent.
  • Works closely with department heads to create and maintain accurate and up-to-date position descriptions.
  • Assists in developing and updating job requisitions and postings.
  • Ensures consistency and compliance with company policies and industry standards for job descriptions.
  • Participates in job evaluation and salary benchmarking processes.
  • Prepares and distributes new hire paperwork, including employment contracts, offer letters, and onboarding materials.
  • Enters new hire information into the HR management system (HRMS) and maintain personnel records.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.
  • Trains managers on hiring process.
General Responsibilities
  • Utilizes and applies in-depth HR body of knowledge and skills to provide tactical guidance for HR related matters like salary administration, hiring, training, and policy interpretation.
  • Resolves and provides solutions for more complex employee relations issues with continued partnership, counsel, and support from COEs.
  • Collaborates and develops recruiting strategies to meet current and/or anticipated staffing needs; ensures recruiting and staffing needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with other business partners and managers to improve and build effective relationships to improve employee engagement and identify high priority retention needs.
  • Coaches leaders to help determine best solutions regarding policy interpretation, performance issues, workforce planning, change management, conflict resolution to ensure alignment and consistency across the university.
  • Provides HR consulting and problem-solving solutions on issues to leaders and managers
  • Collaborates with HR COEs to roll out and support university-wide initiatives, ensure client's needs are understood and met, and deliver change management interventions.
  • Provides support for ensuring an environment of diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree (Human Resources degree highly desired).
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 3 years of Human Resources or related progressively responsible experience.
Preferred
  • 2 years of experience in recruiting and sourcing.
  • Experience as a Talent Acquisition Specialist or in a similar recruitment role.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Preferred
  • SHRM-CP/PHR 1 Year.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Bloomington, Indiana or Indianapolis, Indiana

This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
